Lazer Paintball Team

Starting to get the hang of this, I may yet start doing weekly updates.

As we finish up the first month of the year, I think about how awesome this week has truly been. Not only did I get to watch an awesome film but I also managed to finally play some paintball.

Lets start with the film called Lazer Team and for anyone who haven't heard about it, I will provide a link below for the trailer. This was made by a company called Rooster Teeth know for making the webseries Red vs Blue which holds the record for longest running web-series, as well as spawn a sister sight called Acheivement Hunter. They were presenting screening in certain cinemas and I managed to book a ticket with my friends at George St Cinema before it sold out.

The line for this film

Now I was expecting a long line, I had heard that so many tickets were sold that they had to have a second screening to fit everyone. But when I got there the line was already long as hell but it was nothing compared to when it opened. I managed to get to the entrance of the line but i still had to wait for my friends to arrive, after about 5-10min of waiting I gave up and started looking through the line to see how far they were. The line was gigantic, it was reaching out of the cinema and down a few stores, that's how god damn big it was. I finally found my friends who were getting dinner to take into the film but we weren't allowed hot food in the cinema and the film was about to start, so I wolfed down my food as my friend hid his in his bag (watching him try and eat his burger in the dark was hilarious).

Before the film started, we had the head of Rooster Teeth Burnie Burns come up on stage and announce the film which was awesome, then the film started. The film itself was also really awesome, it was a cheesy alien invasion type movie as well as love letter to the fans, with tones of reference to their other shows. It also helped that the crowd were really enjoying themselves adding to the experience. After the credits we got a message from the movies director Matt Hullum and we were treated to a deleted scene and some bloopers which is always a plus.

As we were leaving the theatre we bumped into one of my class mates from AIE who had come with his girlfriend which was pretty cool. Afterwards we had time to kill before my friend's train arrived so we hanged out a bar called "The Three Monkeys" which I still remember as the bar where I waited for an hour, for my friend to arrive who was going clubing for her 18th birthday. It was also where I tried slot machines for the first time and last time because I realised that it was stupid.

Two days later I was going painballing. Since I didn't have anyone to take me I asked a friend of mine to pick me up as well as someone from the local train station. I had taken pictures of the route but because I suck at navigation, we had passed our turn by a country mile and ended up using a GPS instead, which ironically is why one of the people I had invited didn't show up because his GPS had screwed him over.

So it was just the 4 of us with another group playing as well and while it was humid as hell, I had a really great time. Some of the highlights include this game called VIP which involves one player being the VIP and if he gets shot in the head the whole teams loses. I didn't realise this but I thought we had to get our VIP to the other side. So I came up with a plan were we split the team, one half takes the enemy head on and draws their fire, while the other half escorts the VIP stealthily around the side, turns out it was a typical elimination match but my plan worked flawlessly. Not only did we get to the other side without getting spotted, we got the jump on the other team and eliminated them.

Other highlights include rushing around the side to flank (what I though was the last enemy) and getting shot point blank in the chest by someone else, who looked just as suprised as I was to see her there. Watching my friend trip over himslef in panic, as I fired relentlessly at him without him even knowing where I was and playing a free for all and somehow getting caught in the middle while my two friends hugged the ends.

After about 3 hours it was time to head off as not only had we run out of paintballs but we were alsoexhausted (some more than others). So we all jumped into the one car and stopped for lunch at KFC for lunch. After that my friend driving the car dropped the rest of us at Blacktown as we went home from there.

Sorry for the long post I guess I had a bit to talk about.
