Long Time No See

God damn it's been an entire month since my last blog. Sorry about that, any way now that I'm back let's get to it.

First things first, for an entire week my brother and I had the house to ourselves due to our parents going to Melbourne and then Hobart for both buisness and pleasure. In their absense, my brother decided that he would hold a party at our house , I however decided that I will see a movie that night to avoid the party for as long as possible.

With a friend I saw "Logan" and my god was it good. The film itself tells the story of Wolverine, who is slowly withering away and the mutants are all but extinct. To help pay for a boat he want, Logan (reluctantly) agrees to help escort a young girl across the Mexican/U.S border into Mexico alongside Charles Xavier. This was a very different kind of comic book film as the overal tone is rather sombre, the characters we come to know and love are running on reserve and just waiting for the sweet release of death. The film also makes good use of its R rating as we clearly see up close, just how deadly Wolverine's claws are. To keep this short, overall Logan was a great send off for both Hugh Jackman as "Logan/Wolverine" and Patrick Stewart as "Charles Xavier/Professor X" who both played their respective roles for over 15 years.

Side note the young girl Logan has to escort, has the same powers as Wolverine but instead of 3 claws on each hand, she has 2, plus 1 on each foot, which reminded me of the scene below from Black Lagoon. Total missed oppurtunity for some dark humor in my mind.

So going into the film, I knew I wasn't going to avoid the party, it was inevitable. So after getting back home ataround 11pm I went for the beer straight away. There were about 20 to 30 people at the house, many of them I didn't know with the exception of a few familiar faces. I still had a fun time, however the only thing that bogged down the experience was my lack of self control. Within the hour I had downed 3 bottles of bear, and 3 small glasses of vodka. By the end of that I was looking a little like this.

But after a few more........

Since my brother had work the next day, guess who had to clean the house. That's right, this guy, while a lot of people helped tidy up, I told them I would clean the floors and the dishes myself. It was 3pm by the time I finisihed, I had to activate the dish-washer mutiple times to get through them all. As for the floors, I had to mop up all the tiles at least 3 times to remove all the dirt and make the house somewhat presentable.

Overall I had a pretty excellent week, not having the parents around is always great and having an entire week without them is just god-damn brilliant. All of which accumulated into a night with a lot of great and regretable moments.
