This week in Review 15/1

Well it's that time of the week were reminsing about the week is the order of the day. Yes, I am indeed talking about today's week in review. While not an entirely interesting on my side of the spectrum, that doesn't mean that there isn't things to talk about. Whether it's the road to the Oscars already attracting controversy, counting down the final days before judgement day in the white house or Nintendo announcing how they are SWITCHing things up in game industry.

First things first, earlier this week the raod towards the Oscars finally got underway with the Golden Globes were unsuprisingly La La Land managed to win several awards including best soundtrack and original song, best actor and actress as well as best film comedy/muiscal. The Crown shocked nearly everyone after managing to beat Game of Thrones, Stranger Things and Westworld for Best TV Drama in a massive upset. While Moonlight managed to win best film drama.

However the moment that had everyone talking was when Meryl Streep gave her acceptance speech and depending on your opinion, it was either a very heartfelt and touching speech or the ramblings of a mad, idiotic woman. If you want to see the speech itself I have proivided the video below.

The speech iself was mainly targeting Trump. Naturally the soon to be president took it like a champ and politely responded in respectable fashion................. Just kidding he went to his twitter account and made a responce akin to a primary school insult. Speaking of which there is only a few days left until he becomes president. All that is left to say is buckle up a pray to god it's not as bad as we believe it to be.

Now let's switch (pun totally inteaded) it over to Nintendo, as they revealed some very important info about their new console the Switch. After announcing their new console a few months ago, they have finally announced some of its features. For the unaware, the Nintendo Switch is a hybrid between a home console and a hand held device. You can plug it into a dock and play it on the TV, but when you take it out, you can continue to play it on the device. With this week's presentation we learnt that the price is about $299 USD and is being sold in Australia for $470. We also learnt that it's actually coming out on the 3rd of March with the latest Legend of Zelda game as a lauch title (which looks incredible by the way). Other thing we learnt included: a 2.5 - 6 hour uncharged battery life while out of the dock, the suprisingly expensive prices of its accessories as well having paid online subscriptions just like Sony and Microsoft to name a few. Personally I think this looks really cool, it's a great idea and if well implemented will be amazing. I love being able to play games on the go, whether it be on the train, bus or just to kill time. However I won't be getting it on release because I don't get consoles until later down the line, when there are some more games. Also Mass Effect Andromeda comes out the same month and that takes top priority.

Looking back, I feel this has been a mixed week for me. On one hand some interesting stuff has gone down this week, on the other hand this week was also hot as hell, with Friday night being the hottest night recorded. This didn't help me because trying to work while it's so hot is not easy. But I'm still comitted to working and finishing this project of mine.
